New Kid on the Block - Good Samaritan

The arrival of a new baby changes life for everyone in the family. Siblings may be excited or anxious—or both. They, too, can benefit from being prepared. The New Kid on the Block class at Good Samaritan helps young children better understand what to expect when a new brother or sister joins the family. The class is intended for ages 3 to 8 and parents. We recommend enrolling when you are in your second or third trimester of pregnancy.

• Children and parents watch a video and hear real-life sibling
stories.

• Children learn that big brothers and sisters play an important
role in the family.

• Children play with a baby doll and practice diapering, swaddling
and other safe ways to take care of baby.

• Children and parents make a special gift for baby.

• Children and parents take a quick tour of the Women, Infants
and Children floor and peek in at the nursery.

• Children receive a certificate of completion and gift at the end
of class.
